Parent Advisory Council Meetings
Parent Advisory Council Meetings
What is the Parent Advisory Council (PAC)?
In order to ensure effective involvement of parents and to support a partnership between the school, parents, and the community to improve student academic achievement, Title I schools are asked to establish a Parent Advisory Council (PAC). This PAC provides advice on all matters related to parental involvement programs and has final approval of the school's Parent & Family Engagement Policy.
Participating in the Parent Advisor Council meetings provides families another opportunity to be involved in their child's education by giving them a voice in the decision making related to Title I policies and programs at our school. PAC meetings are held twice a year, in the fall and spring, in order to give parents an opportunity to provide their input on Title I policy, programs, compacts, budget, school improvement plan, and building teacher capacity.
What are the objectives of the PAC?
Strengthen the relationship between home, school, and the community
Foster parents and teachers working together to support the education of our students
Provide input for training opportunities that help parents assist with learning at home
Provide ideas for regular, two-way communication to keep parents informed and working as full partners in their child's learning
Gather input from a parent's perspective on schoolwide Title I programs and policies
Approve Family-School Compacts (Fall) and Parent & Family Engagement Policy (Spring)
Who can join the Parent Advisory Council?
All parents and guardians with students enrolled at BES are invited to be PAC members. PAC members are asked to attend two meetings, one in the fall and one in the spring, in order to provide their input on the Title I Parent & Family Engagement Policy, Title I programs, Family-School Compacts for Achievement, Title I budget, school improvement plan, and building teacher capacity at Battlefield Elementary School. Your input will guide school decisions.
If BES parents are unable to attend a PAC meeting, additional opportunities are provided throughout the year
for our families to provide their feedback. We welcome your input at any time.
