October Header
Happy October, Battlefield families! Fall is officially here, and October is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month at Battlefield. This monthly newsletter is your place to catch up on some of the bigger things happening around our school...from celebrating our amazing staff to updates and resources from our nurse, counselor, PTO, Communities in Schools, and more. We hope you’ll take a few minutes to look through everything and stay connected to all that is happening at BES. We are so thankful for our Battlefield families and the many ways you support our Bears each day!

Mrs. Hillary Waters

It is our privilege to celebrate Mrs. Hillary Waters as Battlefield Elementary’s 2026–2027 Teacher of the Year!
Now in her 20th year in education and her third year at Battlefield, Mrs. Waters brings high expectations, positivity, compassion, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed. After years as a classroom teacher, she stepped into her new role as our Academic Coach this year, where she continues to support both our teachers and students every day.
We are so proud of Mrs. Waters and grateful for the encouragement, expertise, and care she brings to Battlefield Elementary. Please join us in congratulating our 2026–2027 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Hillary Waters!

BES Staff Member of the Year!

Mrs. Andra Herpst

staff member of the year
We are proud to celebrate Mrs. Andra Herpst, our 2026–2027 Staff Member of the Year!
As our Parent Involvement Coordinator, Mrs. Herpst is a wonderful liaison between Battlefield Elementary and our community. She works tirelessly to connect families with helpful resources and is always willing to step in, lend a hand, and support wherever she is needed. She has a special way of connecting with our students and is affectionately known as our Car Rider Line Queen!
We are so grateful for the dedication, kindness, and energy Mrs. Herpst brings to Battlefield each day. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Herpst on this well-deserved honor!

Educator and Staff Member of the Month

September Educator and Staff member of the month
We are proud to celebrate two amazing members of the Battlefield family!
Mrs. Delk works hard each day to make learning fun and engaging for her students. She is also known as the queen of planning and always goes above and beyond to make sure her students have a wonderful learning experience.
Mrs. Lorie, our school bookkeeper, is always working hard and ready to step in wherever she is needed—even serving as our school nurse when necessary! She keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes and works hard to support all of our grade levels.
We are so grateful for the dedication, flexibility, and care these ladies bring to Battlefield Elementary every day!
August Educator and Staff Member of the Month
Congratulations to Mrs. Lewis, our August Educator of the Month, and Mr. Travis, our August Staff Member of the Month!
Their kindness, dedication, and willingness to go the extra mile make a difference in our school every single day. We are incredibly grateful for the care and pride they bring to Battlefield and for the many ways they support our students, staff, and school community.
We are so lucky to have you at BES!

Construction Update

As we head into Fall Break, you may have noticed that the blue tarp is still hanging around the front of our library. We had hoped to have this project completed by now, but it has taken a little longer than expected. The good news is that crews are currently working on the brickwork and finishing the sheetrock, and we are hopeful everything will be completed soon. We are definitely looking forward to saying goodbye to that blue tarp!
We are incredibly thankful for ESPLOST funding and for a community that continues to invest in our schools and children. These funds allow us to maintain and improve our buildings, providing safe and welcoming spaces for students to learn and grow.
Thank you for supporting our schools, believing in our kids, and helping us provide opportunities for every child. We are so grateful for our Battlefield community!
